Licensing

Two things, two licenses

This repository holds a methodology and the software that runs it. They are not licensed the same way, and this page says exactly where the line falls — so nobody has to guess from a filename which rules apply.

Open — CC BY-SA 4.0

The methodology, and the 68 checks

The AI Readiness Index — the scoring model, every weight, every band anchor, the changelog — and the check registry it defines are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

You may copy it, adapt it, and build your own scanner from it — for any purpose, including a commercial one — for free, forever.

As long as you credit TEN7 as the creator of the AI Readiness Index, with a link back to air.ten7.com/methodology, and license whatever you build from it under this same CC BY-SA 4.0 license.

Proprietary — All rights reserved

The scanner and this application

The crawler, the scoring engine, this website, the dashboard, every template and every line of CSS and JavaScript are © 2026 Ten 7 Interactive, LLC. No license is granted to copy, run, or redistribute them.

The open license above covers the methodology — what to check and how to weigh it. It does not extend to the code that measures a site against it. If you want to run this scanner rather than build your own from the published methodology, talk to us.

One more thing — the name

“AI Readiness Index” is not covered by CC BY-SA 4.0

The license above lets you reuse the methodology. It does not let you use the TEN7 name, logo, or the name “AI Readiness Index” to describe your own tool. You are welcome to say your implementation “follows the AI Readiness Index” or “implements the AI Readiness Index v2.0” — you may not call your own product the AI Readiness Index, or imply TEN7 built, endorses, or operates it.

Questions about either license: hello@ten7.com. The full statement, including how this reads inside the source repository, is in LICENSE and LICENSES/ alongside the code.
